Nicolás Lodeiro Offered to San Lorenzo

Uruguayan midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro, with a past at Boca Juniors and currently at Orlando City in the United States, has been offered to San Lorenzo de Almagro. The coach of the Argentine team, Miguel Ángel Russo, has given the green light to proceed with negotiations for his possible arrival.

After the 1-0 victory over Talleres de Córdoba at the start of the Apertura Tournament of the Professional Football League, San Lorenzo seeks to continue reinforcing its squad in the last week of the transfer market, which ends on Friday. This search for reinforcements comes just two days before the match against Gimnasia de La Plata and 48 hours before the encounter against River Plate.

The captain and reference of the team, Spanish midfielder Iker Muniain, suffered a muscle tear last week and will travel to his home country to recover as soon as possible with the aim of returning to the field as soon as possible. This injury represents a significant loss for the team, which is why San Lorenzo's management is considering the option of adding Nicolás Lodeiro as a replacement in the midfield.

Nicolás Lodeiro, a two-time World Cup player with the Uruguayan national team, left Boca Juniors in 2016 to join the Seattle Sounders in MLS, where he stayed for eight years playing 230 matches and scoring 57 goals. During his time in the United States, Lodeiro won the MLS Western Conference three times, the MLS Cup twice, and the CONCACAF Champions League in 2022.

After his successful stint with the Seattle Sounders, the Uruguayan midfielder joined Orlando City last January, participating in 46 matches during the season. At 35 years old, Lodeiro seeks to return to Argentine football, and San Lorenzo could become his next destination if his arrival at the club materializes.
